Water either leaves or destroys
Land drainage is our oldest line of work and still the most common reason clients call: dry out a field, rebuild a ditch, replace a culvert that no longer carries water.
What we do
- New and reconstructed field drainage: laterals, collectors, filter material.
- Reinstatement of reclamation ditches: clearing, slope forming, restoring the invert gradient.
- Culvert replacement and repair: concrete and plastic culverts, headwalls.
- Reconstruction of state-owned reclamation structures under municipal and state contracts.
- Drain outfalls, inspection chambers and water outlets.
- Drainage of forest and field roads together with the drainage system.
How a job runs
Survey
The existing system is inspected on site and the drawings and register data are checked against reality.
Gradients
Levels are set out and gradients verified — this is where it is decided whether the system will work at all.
Excavation and laying
Trenching, laying the drains with filter material, connecting into the collectors.
Ditches and culverts
Ditch reinstatement, culvert replacement, headwalls and outfalls.
Reinstatement
Backfilling, compaction, restoring the ground surface and accesses.
Why it matters
A failed drainage system shows up on the road before it shows up in the field: a flooded ditch raises the water table, and in spring the pavement starts to break up. That is why we often treat road and drainage work as one job.
Most Lithuanian reclamation systems were built decades ago, so the bulk of today's work is not new systems but restoring the ones that exist.
